Swami Abhayananda (Stan Trout) on Anne Hamilton-Byrne

“As for Anne Hamilton-Byrne, I really know very little about her doings.  She used to come to this country about once a year, and stay with her husband and several children and assistants in one of the houses on the South Fallsburg property.  There was a period in ’87 or thereabouts when she became very upset about the articles printed about her in the Australian press.  She even showed them to me; but they were apparently products of a sensationalistic press–like our National Enquirer, and she maintained they were completely unfounded.  She was really a very kind and compassionate person, always helping others; and she was more than generous to me.  She was also the one who helped Swami Tejomayananda to get out of the country, and even supported him in India in the running of some sort of clinic there.  She was, if anything, generous to a fault; she wore her heart on her sleeve, and gave her time and resources to anyone she perceived to be in need.  I have not been in contact with her since I left South Fallsburg in 1988; I do not even know if she is still alive.  I met her daughter, Sarah, but know nothing of her book or her doings.  I’m afraid that’s all I can tell you about her.”
