AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ
Franklin Jones

Franklin Jones (see Adi Da Samraj and Adidam) has been known with many different names: Da Free John, Da Love Ananda, Ananda (the name given him by Muktananda), Adi Da, etc. His web page lists Rudrananda, Muktananda and Nityananda as his Guru’s. Jones is seen sitting with Muktananda on one page. “His first Teacher was an American–Swami Rudrananda (also known as “Rudi”). Rudi, who taught in New York City, guided Adi Da in the initial stages of His Spiritual growth, and, later, passed Adi Da on to his own Gurus in India. These great Realizers–Swami Muktananda and Swami Nityananda–were instrumental in Adi Da’s Awakening to higher Spiritual Realizations.”

Jones was a student of Muktananda and left about 1972.

I found the following statement about Da:

“As an Adept of Kundalini Yoga, Swami Muktananda Served Avatara Adi Da as Spiritual Teacher during the period from 1968 to 1970. In the summer of 1969, during Adi Da’s second visit to India, Swami Muktananda wrote Him a letter confirming Bhagawan Da’s attainment of “Yogic Liberation”, and acknowledging His right to Teach others. However, from the beginning of their relationship, Swami Muktananda instructed Him to visit Swami Nityananda’s Burial Site every day (whenever He was at Swami Muktananda’s Ashram in Ganeshpuri, India), and to surrender to Swami Nityananda as the Supreme Guru of the Lineage.”

There are alleged sexual abuse law suits that have been settled out of court with Jones named as the perpetrator.

Ken Wilber, the author who once supported Adi Da now has something different to say. Go HERE for his statement.

This is from a magazine called – What is Enlightenment?:

“In front of me, my wife was being sexually prepared for the guru. I coped with my violently irrational feelings going into emotional numbness. Happily, I did not have to witness my teacher bedding my wife. We were all asked to leave the room. I was sent to a different building where I sat for several hours in the dark, dealing with the emotional hurricane that had been unleashed in me. Finally, I got a handle on my feelings. I realized that one of my greatest attachments was to my wife, and that the guru was doing radical surgery on me for that. I ha asked him, indirectly but loudly and clearly, to help me in my struggle for enlightenment. That night he was doing jus that. . . . . . this traumatic episode left both [me and my wife] raw for several months, but it also proved a valuable initiation.”

On 26 Oct 97 I sent the following email to Adi Da:

I am working on an article for the website Leaving Siddha Yoga; Searching for the Truth. I am interested in knowing more about Adidam’s relationship to Muktananda. I understand that Adidam studied under Muktananda for a time.

Over the years there has been a great deal of controversy regarding Muktananda’s sexual abuse of his female students. This information has been documented in several articles. More recently, I have communicated with those who where also given initiation as swami’s by Muktananda. They confirm that Muktananda was being sexual. They also seem to support his actions.

I would like to know how Adidam has dealt with this problem. Does Adidam deal with this issue in any way? Does he support Muktananda’s standing in the spiritual community?
